SC’s Interim Order Against NEB New Curriculum

Supreme Court (SC) has issued a short-term interim order not to implement the NEB new curriculum for grade 11 and 12 immediately.

A single bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Justice Purushottam Bhandari, summoned both the parties for discussion on November 10 and issued a short-term interim order not to implement the course immediately.

The court has asked to keep the status quo of the National Curriculum for School Education, 2076 without implementing it until the final order is finalized from the discussion.

Bhagwata Aryal and others had filed writ petitions against the curriculum development center, Pokhara University, Midwest, Far West, Eastern Region, Kathmandu and Agriculture and Forest Science University.

In the preliminary hearing of the writ petition, the apex court has also asked the opposition to submit a written reply within 15 days on the reasons for implementing the new curriculum.

Curriculum Development Center had recently advised NEB to implement the new curriculum for grade 11 and 12 from this academic year.

Senior advocate Lilamani Poudel, who argued on behalf of the petitioner, stressed that the new curriculum for class 11 and 12 should not be implemented as there is no mathematics subject.
